Obituary for LESTER HENRY LEE JR.

Lester Henry Lee, Jr. (81) passed away November 4, 2022

He was born on September 23, 1941 in Winnebago, Nebraska. His mother introduced him to his wife, Loretta Allen, and encouraged her to write to him in the U.S. Air Force. Their long distance relationship grew and they were married on April 17, 1961 in Roswell, New Mexico. Faith and family were foremost in their marriage as they welcomed a son, Lester Lee III, and a daughter, Angela Gallagher (Terry).

Lester loved a “good fishing pond”, hunting deer and pheasants with his friends, a root beer float on a hot sunny day, a competitive game of cards and cribbage, an old western movie, the Sunday comics, and any activity that included spending time with his grandkids.

Lester was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, children, and grandchildren- Ian, Mariah and Katelyn.

His big smile, laugh, “bear hugs” and storytelling will be missed by his family and friends. We love you and miss you, Dad.

Services will be held at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Ave., in Des Moines on Saturday, November 12, 2022. Visitation will be from 12-2 p.m. with service to follow at 2 p.m. Private burial to be held at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the Animal Rescue League in loving memory of Lester.
