Obituary for Michael D. Witman

Michael D. "Mickey" Witman, 69, of Fleetwood, passed away peacefully in his home on Sunday, June 12, 2022, surrounded by the love of his family.  Mickey gave lung cancer a three year long courageous battle.  He was the loving husband of Brenda J. (Miller) Witman, whom he married January 2, 2019.  Born in Allentown, Michael was a son of the late Lorene P. and Nancy C. (Miller) Witman.

Mickey was employed at both the Emmaus Foundry, Emmaus, and Kline Foundry, Alburtis; East Penn Manufacturing, Lyon Station; and Bayshore Trucking, Bethel, where he retired in 2019.  Mickey also proudly worked as a parking director at the Kutztown Folk Festival for 51 years and looked forward to the festival each year.

Mickey was an avid hunter, hunting for deer, bear and small game.  He also loved fishing for trout and yearly salmon fishing trips to Pulaski, NY.  He enjoyed foraging in the woods for morel mushrooms and deer antler drops.  Mickey loved the summer, and he would be outside as much as possible, finding projects to keep him occupied.  Working in the yard was a complete joy for him.

In addition to his loving wife of four years, Brenda, Mickey is survived by a son, Trevor, wife of Kim (Fedullo) Witman, Exeter Township; brothers: Barry, wife of Bonnie (Koch) Witman, Colorado; Thomas "Tommy" Witman, Mertztown; and Elroy Witman, partner of Dana Eck, Mertztown.  Other survivors include a stepson, Adam Billiard, Pennsburg; stepdaughter, Jessica Slawson, husband of Michael, Castleton, NY; there are six step grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, and an enormous amount of close friends.  In addition to his parents, Mickey was predeceased by a daughter, Dawn Witman; and brothers, Eric Witman and Leonard "Lenny" Witman.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date.
