Obituary for Jean M Barton

Jean M. Barton, 91, Pottsville, entered into eternal rest Saturday morning January 1st at her residence.

Born August 29, 1930 in Emmaus, she was the daughter of the late Howard and Lillian (Moser) Neifert.

She was a graduate of Tamaqua High School, member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Pottsville, the Eastern Star, and Amaranthe.  She worked at the former Sears & Roebuck Department store when it was located in downtown Pottsville and when it relocated to the former Frackville Mall, retiring prior to  the Mall closing.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Jerome Barton (November 2010), grandson Gregory Barton (1972), and great grandson Tim Witman (2018).

Jean will be forever missed by her son Jerome husband of Judi, Pottsville; daughter Joan Bowers wife of John, Beach Haven Terrace, NJ; grandchildren Amy Witman, Jerome “JD” Barton, Jacob Barton, Heidi Scythes, and Rachel McDill; great grandchildren Peter David Witman II, Tyler Barton, Eli Barton, and Emilie McDill; and great great grandchildren Abriella and Lukah Witman.

Funeral Services will be held 11 AM Thursday, January 6th at the Schlitzer Allen Pugh Funeral Home Rev. Chris Rotharpt, Off.  Family and friends are respectfully invited to pay their respects from 9AM until the time of service.  Interment will be held on the grounds of Schuylkill Memorial Park Cemetery, Schuylkill Haven.
