Obituary for Mr. Richard E. Oncay Sr.

Richard E. Oncay, Sr., 87, of Horntown, Virginia, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 5, 2021 in St. Luke’s Hospice House, Bethlehem, PA. He was the widower of Margaret P. (Delahee) Oncay, who died in January, 2020.

Born and raised in Philadelphia, PA, Richard was a son of the late Frank and Eva (Lenters) Oncay and was a graduate of John Bartram High School. He worked as a Computer Data Processing Supervisor for General Motors and their Frigidaire division for 26 years. He also worked as a Shipping and Receiving  Manager at Bloomingdales for several years.

Richard was active with The Boy Scouts of America where he was involved with several troops in the Philadelphia area. He served as Scout Master and was a Vigil member of The Order of the Arrow. He enjoyed construction, watching NASCAR races and was a die-hard NY Yankees fan, even though he was from Philly.

He is survived by his five children, Richard E. Oncay, Jr., widower of Karen (Hemighaus) Oncay, Spring City, Jeffrey F. Oncay, Palmerton, David L. Oncay, husband of Cheryl (Rupell) Oncay, Allentown, Dennis J. Oncay, Pocono Summit, and Patti M. (Oncay) Boyer, wife of Kelly Boyer, Kutztown; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife and parents, Richard was predeceased a son, Gary G. Oncay in infancy, and by three brothers and a sister.

Services for Richard will be held privately by his family.
