Obituary for Julia Noga Shafer

Julia Noga Shafer, 87, of Ansonia, died Tuesday June 24, 2008 at Hewitt Memorial after a brief illness. She was the widow of Arthur E. Shafer. Born in Ansonia, July 5, 1920 she was the daughter of the late Peter and Bessie Kwochka Noga. She was a former communicant of Three Saints Russian Orthodox Church, a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary and a member of the Wives of the Pearl Harbor Survivors. She was employed as a seamstress for the former B.F. Goodrich Co. Survivors include her daughter, Donna L. Phipps of Ansonia; two sisters, Mary Hunter of Middletown, N.J. and Rose McCormack of Ansonia; and one brother Stephen Noga of Oxford. She was predeceased by five brothers, Samuel, Peter, John, Frank and William Noga. Her funeral service will be held Friday in the Bennett Funeral Home, Ansonia. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Ansonia.
