Obituary for Eleanor Hemingway Thompson

Eleanor Mae Thompson, 92, of Shelton, entered into rest Saturday October 18, 2008 at Hilltop Manor in Derby. She was the devoted wife of the late Donald Allen Thompson. Eleanor was born in Alberg, VT August 6, 1916, daughter of the late Joseph and Eva Mitchell Hemingway and moved to Connecticut in 1939 before settling in Shelton more than 50 years ago. She was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church of Shelton, and was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was the beloved mother of Gary Thompson and his wife Gail, Wayne Thompson and his wife June, DIane gould and her husband Nelson and Sandra Hohlfeld and her husband Peter. She is also survived by nine cherished grandchildren, Jennifer Clark and her husband Thomas, Douglas Thompson and his wife Magdalena, Eric Hohlfeld, Sara Gould, Christopher Hohlfeld and Lindsey Gould, Jessica Rut and her husband Robert, David and James Krentzman; four great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by three brothers, Vernon, Willard and Roger Hemingway and two sisters, Leona Kluge and Norma Finke. Her funeral service will be held on Wednesday at the First United Methodist Church of Shelton. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery in Ansonia. The Riverview Funeral Home Shelton is entrusted with the arrangements.
