Obituary for Richard Carlisle Wright

Richard “Doc” Carlisle Wright lived life to the fullest! Born on August 29, 1938, he passed away at the age of 81 peacefully from this life November 1st surrounded by his loving family.

He met the love of his life, Carllyn Putnam Norman Wright, on a blind date and married her December 31,1969. They were married almost 50 years. She will miss her best friend until they meet again.

Richard was a devoted father to his children Pamela Denise Wright, John Henry Norman and wife Heidi, and Suzanne Elizabeth Wright and an amazing grandfather to Shawn Michael Norman and wife Kayla, Evan Joseph Norman, and Samson Clyde Norman.

He was preceded in death by his father, Malcolm Carlisle Wright, his mother, Bernetta Jane Martin, his dad, James Mark Martin, and sister, Gloria Wright Wiseman

Richard loved fishing, his family and life not necessarily in that order. He loved beating us all at Monopoly, flipping the channel just as we got interested in the show, was an unofficial restaurant critic, a loving pain in the backside and definite smart aleck. He was a giant teddy bear with a heart of gold and had a smile that lit up our world.

He served his country with pride. He retired from IBM in Austin, Texas after 26 years!

Following his wishes, there will not be a funeral services. However, well wishers are encouraged to celebrate his life in their own way and remember to live life to the fullest and laugh then laugh some more. Raising a glass of their favorite drink in his memory would be appropriate.

In lieu of flowers, Richard would hope that you will do a random act of kindness for someone in his name.
