Antonia “Toni” Valenzona Pagpaguitan peacefully went home to be with Our Lord on Easter Sunday, April 21, 2019 at the age of 93. She was born on June 13, 1925 in Baybay, Leyte, Philippines. Many of you may know her as Aling Toni, Aling Toning, Tonia and the dearest of the all, Lola or Lola Lola. She waas preceeded in death by her beloved husband Julian Pagpaguitan and children, Jose, Joji, Juancho; and grandson, Alan. She is survived by her children Jaime Pagpaguitan and his wife Pilcha, Nannette Diokno and her husband Frank and Janice Bustamante and her husband Albert, her grandchildren, Fritzie, Sherwin, Cyril, Jover, James, Irene, Jacky, Marlon, Raymond, Kristopher, Jevie, Jaylove, Joshua, Juilan, and Jacob, great grandchildren, Jared, Cailey, Shaun, Jullian, Jamar, Jude, Emerson, Jarel, Christian, Trinity, Branden, Robin, Luke and Faith. She is survived by her sister Lily and was preceded in death by her siblings Pedro, Avelino, Nemesio, and Vincentina.
Toni was a loving, caring, protective mother who sent her children to a good school and she generously provided opportunities for her extended family.
While in the Philippines, Toni owned and operated Toni’s Beauty Shop in Pasay where she earned her reputation of being a strong, independent, hard working woman who was loved and respected by all who knew her. In February 1979, she and her husband migrated to America where she worked for Hilton Hotel in San Francisco and later retired in 1991. Some may know her for her countless hours of providing massage therapy while others remember her for being very resourceful and hospitable. She was selfless and a great cook and she always made sure that you were fed.
Toni was a devoted and devout Catholic. She was a member of St. Augustine Church Legion of Mary that aims to increase the personal holiness of its members. She also participated in the Homebound Ministry who visited homebound parishioners.
Mommy/Lola Toning will be greatly missed and her kindness and generosity will always be remembered.
