Obituary for Rose Brocato Hare

Rose Brocato Hare, 93, a native of Baton Rouge, LA, raised in Bunkie, LA and longtime resident of Lafayette, LA, died Saturday morning, November 10, 2018, at her residence. She was born on March 7, 1925.

Left to cherish her memory are her twin daughters, Debbie Hare Kimbrough and her husband Edward Kimbrough, of Georgetown, SC, and Dovie Hare Brady and her husband John Brady of Baton Rouge, LA; a son, William Daniel Hare of Lafayette, LA and daughter-in-law, Toni Purpera Hare of Lafayette, LA; grandchildren, Christopher Hare; twin grandsons, Jonathan Hare and Benjamin Hare, and Blair Kimbrough Salmon; great grandchildren, Devin Hare Goeggle, Isaac Parks, Courtney Hare, Edward Salmon and Shields Salmon; and one great great grandchild, Harper Goeggle.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Courtney Hare, one son, Courtney Collins Hare, her parents, Frank J. Brocato and Catherine Hebert Brocato, and her brothers, Sam Brocato, Henry Brocato and Frank Brocato.

Rose was an alumnae of St. Anthony Catholic Elementary School and a graduate of Bunkie High School where she was voted "Most Beautiful". She attended Crowley Business School.

She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi, Ridgewood Home Demonstration Club, 25 Club, Krewe of Zeus, the Mystic Krewe of Attakapas, Petroleum Club and The Birthday Group for the past fifty-two years.

Gardening was her passion; no plant was a challenge and all were prolific in flowers. Her camellias were legendary. Rose's home was her castle. She enjoyed cooking, dancing, Friday nights at La Fonda and raising and doting on her children. Rose's joyful spirit will be missed.

Pallbearers will be Christopher Hare, Benjamin Hare, Jonathan Hare, Courtney Hare, Wes Castille, Mike Mosing, Dr. Eddie Palmer and Jude Bourque.

Honorary pallbearers are the members of The Birthday Group: Mary Carter, Catherine Carricut, Louise Cordell, Elizabeth Leatherwood, Kim LeBlanc, Tillie LeBlanc, Flossie Purpera, and Julie Rozas.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 13, 2018, at a 2:00 PM Mass of Christian Burial in Our Lady of Wisdom Catholic Church on the UL Campus.

The Rev. Bryce Sibley, Pastor, will be the Celebrant of the Funeral Mass and will conduct the services, con-celebrated by the Rev. F. Hampton Davis, Pastor of Our Lady, Queen of Peace, Catholic Church. Lectors will be Toni Purpera Hare and Edward Kimbrough and the Giftbearers will be Debbie Hare Kimbrough, Dovie Hare Brady and William Daniel Hare. Karen Broussard, organist/vocalist and Wayne Hebert, vocalist, will sing for the services "On Eagles' Wings", "Psalm 23", "Ave Maria", "Pie Jesu" and "Be Not Afraid" accompanied on the violin by Lauren Baker.

Interment will follow in the Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at Martin & Castille's DOWNTOWN location on Monday from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a Rosary to be prayed at 6:30 PM. Visitation will continue on Tuesday from 11:00 AM until time of the services.
