Obituary for Kathryn M. Coldsmith

Kathryn M. (Wartluft) Ulrich Coldsmith, age 95, formerly of Greencastle, PA, passed away on Thursday, October 25, 2018 in the Berks Heim Nursing Home, Bern Township, where she was a resident since May, 2016. Kathryn was the widow of her first husband, Robert B. Ulrich, who died in 1969, and pre-deceased by her second husband, Eldon M. Coldsmith, who died in 1999. Kathryn was born in Wernersville to the late William M. and Florence J. (GerhartWartluft. She was a 1940 graduate of the former Wernersville High School, now Conrad Weiser School District. Kathryn was the food service director for 17 years at Greencastle Antrim School District, Franklin County, retiring in 1986. Prior to that, she worked at Arner's Family Restaurant, the former Pomeroys, and the former C. K. Whitners Department stores, all of Reading.

She was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels; a member of the Women's Christian Temperance Union, the Auxiliary of Gideons, and also a Sunday School teacher. She was a member of Greencastle Women's Club, former Cub Scout Den Mother, and volunteered at the Piney Mountain Home.

Kathryn is survived by her son, Rev. Roger M., husband of Ming H. (Hsu) Ulrich, Wyomissing; grandchildren, Susan L. (Ulrich) wife of Joseph Trapasso, Arlington, VA; Tina M. Ulrich, Dallas, TX; and Robert M., husband of Jennifer C. (Dickens) Ulrich, Sinking Spring. There are also four great grandsons: Chase M. and Tyler A. Ulrich and Aidan J. and Royce M. Trapasso. There are also three step daughters: Louise (Coldsmith), widow of Marvin Tice; Gladys (Coldsmith), wife of Edward Doyle; and Mary Jane (Coldsmith), wife of Lanny Carbaugh, all of Greecastle. There are also six step grandchildren, 19 step great grandchildren, and eight step great-great grandchildren. In addition to both of her husbands, Kathryn was predeceased by a son, Kenneth R. Ulrich in 1946, and siblings Irene J. (WartluftRenninger, John H. Wartluft, and Rev. J. William Wartluft.

A funeral service to celebrate Kathryn's life will be held on Thursday, November 1, 2018, at 10:30 a.m. in St. Peter's United Church of Chirst, 122 W. Franklin Street, Topton, with her son, The Rev. Roger M. Ulrich, officiating. A gathering will follow the service in the church social hall, with interment in Saint John's (Hain's) Cemetery, Wernersville, to be held at 2:00 p.m. Family and friends may call Thursday from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. in the church.
