Obituary for Bradley R. Wendt

Bradley "Brad" R.  Wendt, 67, of Ruscombmanor Township, passed away on Tuesday, March 6, 2018 in Penn State Health, Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, Hershey, PA. He was the loving husband of Jane R. (Snell) Wendt, whom he married on August 19, 1972. Born in Reading, Brad was predeceased by his father, Charles F. Wendt, and his mother, Ruth V. (Hafer) Wendt Dease; Ruth later married the late Claude Dease who was like a second father to Brad. Brad and Jane were members of Friedens Evangelical Lutheran Church, Oley, but most recently attended Trinity Lutheran Church, Topton.

Brad was a 1968 graduate of Exeter Township Senior High School and continued his education at Peirce College, Philadelphia, where he received an Associate's degree in Computer Science. He then enlisted in the United States Navy, where he served during the Vietnam era. Brad worked as a General Manager at the former Halbeisen Kitchen and Appliances for 10 years in the mid 1970's to mid 1980's. He then worked as a salesman for many years at Lezzer Lumber, Reinhold's Lumber, J.H. Brubaker Inc., and MRD Lumber. Most recently, Brad worked part-time as a truck driver at Levan Machine & Truck Equipment from 2009 until his retirement in 2015.

Brad was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing and target shooting. Most importantly, Brad loved spending time with his family and watching his grandchildren grow.

In addition to his wife of 45 years, Jane, Brad is survived by his son, Daniel C., husband of Dana M. (Eckhart) Wendt, Fleetwood; his two grandchildren, Lily G. and Brady J. Wendt, and his four-legged companion, Katey.

A memorial service to celebrate Brad's life will be held on Saturday, March 10, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in Ludwick Funeral Homes, Inc., 333 Greenwich Street, Kutztown, with Reverend Arthur L. Hahn officiating. Burial, with military honors provided by The United States Navy Honor Guard, will follow in Forrest Hills Memorial Park, Reiffton. The family will greet relatives and friends following the burial at Walnuttown Fire Company, 535 Park Road, Fleetwood, where refreshments will be served. There will be no calling hours prior to the service.

The family requests contributions be made in Brad's memory to the Bradley R. Wendt Memorial Fund c/o Ludwick Funeral Homes, Inc., P.O.
