George P. Dempsey, age 88, of Pennsauken, NJ went to be with the Lord on October 7, 2017, surrounded by his loving family.
Beloved husband of Doris (nee Lightcap), married 63 wonderful years. Devoted father of Stephen (Heather), Peter (Theresa), Patricia (John) Sandoz, Derrick (Nancy) and Daniel (Bonnie). Cherished grandfather of 17 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
George attended The King's College in Delaware and served in the Navy during the Korean War. Played in the NBA for 5 years; 4 years with the Philadelphia Warriors and 1 year with the Syracuse Nationals and worked for Roosevelt Paper Company for 47 years.
Relatives and friends are invited for his visitation on Friday, October 13, 2017 from 6:00 - 8:00 PM and on again on Saturday, October 14, 2017 from 9:00 to 10:00 AM with a Funeral Service at 10:00 AM all at the Immanuel Baptist Church, 6 S. Poplar Avenue, Maple Shade, NJ 08052. Burial will follow at Lakeview Memorial Park, Cinnaminson, NJ.
