Obituary for Velma F Lewis

Velma Frances Lewis went to be with the Lord on August 13, 2017 in her home surrounded by family. The youngest of five girls, she was born November 2, 1930 to David H. and Lula Belle Vinson in Akron, Ohio. Velma graduated from South High School in 1948, shortly afterwards, she worked in the healthcare field. Fulfilling her lifelong dream of becoming a Registered Nurse, she received her B.S.N. from The University of Akron. She then worked as a R.N. for Akron City Hospital until retirement. As a member of Friendship Apostolic Church of Christ, Velma began living her life for the Lord at the young age of 23. She tirelessly served the Lord as a Sunday School Teacher, Bible School Teacher, Missionary Board, Evangelist and served on the Mother''s Board at House of Prayer for All People. Velma met and married John E. Lewis Sr. and to this union were born six children to cherish her memories, Ronnie, Gwen (Raymond) Waters, Pamela Harper, Donny (Gennie), Mark (Allison), John Jr; two step daughters, Peggy Ann Lewis, and Charlotte Kay Dardie; 46 grandchildren; 64 great-grandchildren and 24 great-great grandchildren. Service will be held on Saturday, August 19, 2017 at 12 p.m. at First Apostolic Faith Church, 790 Easter Avenue, Akron, OH 44307. Pastor R. Stacey Jenkins eulogizing. Interment at Mt. Peace Cemetery. Friends may visit at the church from 11a.m. until time of service. Procession will form and condolences may be sent to 382 W. Bartges St., Akron, OH 44307
