Obituary for Dorothy Marie Ridenour

DOROTHY MARIE ''DODO'' FOX RIDENOUR STRUTHERS – Dorothy Marie “Dodo” Fox Ridenour, 81, died Wednesday evening, July 19, 2017, at her daughter’s home, with her family at her side. Dorothy, affectionately known as Dodo, was born June 20, 1936, in Struthers, a daughter of Thomas and Ruth Thompson Fox. A graduate of Struthers High School, class of 1954, Dodo worked at General Electric in the Lamp Plant for 25 years and then the Coil Plant for 10 years. She retired in 1994, after 35 years of service. Dodo was a longtime member of the Gospel Baptist Church in Poland and its Golden Eagles. Dodo read the Bible every morning, loved Ohio history, watching her favorite shows, “The Waltons” and “Little House on the Prairie,” and was an avid fan of the Cleveland Browns. Dodo was a wonderful mother and grandmother. When she was younger, she loved taking her children and grandchildren on her many planned excursions to points of interests in Ohio, amusement parks, and to many Cleveland Brown events. As she became older, her younger grandchildren will remember her sleepovers and grandmotherly companionship. She leaves to cherish her memory, one daughter, Marlane (Tim) Vulcan of Struthers; four grandchildren, William (Zayna) Gasior, and Darcie, Rachael and Brian Vulcan, all of Struthers; and two great-grandchildren, Brianne Vulcan and Evan Manning. In addition to her parents, Dodo was preceded in death by one daughter, Ruth Lynne Gasior; three sisters, Nina Fisher, Alice Walker, and Esther White; and two brothers, Larry and Al Fox. Funeral services will be held Monday, July 24, 2017, at 11 a.m. at the Gospel Baptist Church, with the Rev. Ron Royalty officiating. Interment will follow at the Green Haven Memorial Gardens. Friends will be received Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Davidson-Becker Funeral Home in Struthers and Monday from 10 to 10:45 a.m. at the church. Contributions may be made to the Gospel Baptist Church, 6235 Clingan Road, Poland, OH 44514.
