Obituary for Harvey E. Rivers

 Harvey Lee Rivers "Gangster Man", was born February 2, 1945 to the late Velma Cody-Rivers and Freddie Rivers Sr. in Union Springs, Alabama. Harvey moved to Akron, Ohio at an early age attending Thornton Middle School and graduated from the Old South High School. He worked for Chrysler Corporation for 39 years, retiring in 2005 and was a member of The Old Greater Temple Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. Robert McCraney Sr.He served as past President of Rooster Channel Jumpers CB Club and an original member and Road Captain of The Akron Zulu Motorcycle Club. Harvey was an avid hunter, fisherman, and loved to talk on his CB under the handle of "World Wide Gangster Man." Harvey also loved his family and the sound and ride of his Harley!The Lord called him home on Friday, May 12, 2017. Preceded in death by his father, Freddie Rivers Sr., mother, Velma Cody-Rivers; brother, Freddie Rivers Jr; sisters, Daisy Daggett and Rosetta Blue. He leaves to cherish his memory son, Ricky (Diana) Morse, of Canton, Ohio; daughter, Hattie Morse, of Akron, Ohio; grandchildren, Nyesha Morse, Britney Morse, Antonio Morse, all of Akron, Ohio; great-grandchildren, Cody Seward, Kurtay Seward, Breya Morse, Brandon Garrett and Nyomi Seward, all of Akron, Ohio; sisters, Mary Lee Rivers, Gail Rivers, JoAnne Rivers, Lynn Rivers, Dewanda Rivers, all of Akron, Ohio; Juanita Rivers, Gardenia Coakly, Patricia Rivers, all of Rochester, N.Y., Gladies Rivers, of Davenport, Fla., Mary Janice Rivers, of Union Springs, Ala.; brother, Fred Rivers III, of Kissimmee, Fla.; and a host of family and friends.Special acknowledgment to his devoted companion, Janice Sommerville and extended family, Lawrence Zanders, Natisha Sommerville-Dent, Kahlil Sommerville, Paetyn McGuire, Jayda Wilson, Brandyn and Khamryn McGuire.
