Obituary for Ruth E. Ambler

Ruth Evelyn Ambler (Hunt) CUYAHOGA FALLS -- Ruth Evelyn Ambler (Hunt), 89, passed away peacefully at Cardinal Village Retirement Community on January 28, 2017. Born in Akron on May 9, 1927 to the late Walter and Marjorie Peterson, Ruth had been a Falls resident most of her life. She retired as an executive secretary from Herberich-Hall-Harter after 32 years and continued in the same position for the Boy Scouts of America Great Trail Council. Ruth was a faithful member of the Bethany United Church of Christ. She generously volunteered at Bethany UCC as well as Falls General Hospital. Ruth was an avid duplicate bridge player and attained the rank of Silver Life Master. She enjoyed playing the piano and was a huge Cleveland Indians fan as well. In addition to her parents; Ruth was preceded in death by her husbands, William ''Keith'' Ambler and Bob Hunt; son, Gary Ambler and son-in-law Skip Blatt. She is survived by her daughters, Kathleen (Mike) Drozin, Lori (John) Weiss, Karen (Jim) Lucas, and Maureen (Dave) Plum; daughter-in-law, Kim; sister, Lois (Don) Diers; and a niece and nephew; 13 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, 4 to 7 p.m. at the Anthony Funeral Home MCGOWAN-REID & SANTOS CHAPEL, 247 Stow Ave., (at Third St., one block north of Portage Trail in) Cuyahoga Falls. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, 11 a.m., at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Chestnut Hill Memorial Gardens.
