Obituary for Matthew J Dolence
Funeral services for Matthew J. Dolence, 88, of Willoughby Hills will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 4, 2017 at Davis-Babcock Funeral Home, 4154 Clark Avenue, Willoughby. The family will receive friends from 9 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, prior to the service at the funeral home.
Mr. Dolence passed away January 27, 2017 in Mayfield Heights. He was born February 24, 1928 in Martins Ferry, OH.
He was a proud U.S. Army Veteran. He was an assistant scout master for Boy Scout Troop 185 in Willoughby, a member of the Willoughby Lodge 302 Free and Accepted Masons and Willoughby Hills United Methodist Church. He enjoyed spending time in his workshop, feeding the birds, and spending time with his family. Matthew worked as a carpenter in Northeast Ohio since 1952.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Rita J. Dolence; children, Greg (Mary) Dolence and Debbie (Bob) Unger; grandchildren, Matthew and Brian Dolence and Jessica and Hanna Unger and brother, Thomas Dolence. He also leaves behind his canine friend, Minnie.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Yohana Dolence.
Entombment will be in Western Reserve Memorial Gardens, Chester Twp.
