Obituary for Ruth Byrd
Ruth Mayotis (Young) Byrd was born in Lorain, Ohio to the late Horace and Mary (Riley) Young. She passed away on January 4, 2017. Ruth attended Akron Public Schools. She later worked as a Food Service Manager for the Akron Public Schools at Firestone High School. As a member of the Order of The Eastern Star she rose through the ranks to become Grand Worthy Matron of Mary Chapter #47, past Commandress of Al Kaf Court #144 and Past Most Ancient Matron of El Zerubbabel Court #5 and Heroines of Jericho. She loved her family, cooking and reading.She was preceded in death by her husband, Elzie Lee Byrd; sister, Bernard Wade; brothers, Horace Young and Carl Young. She leaves to mourn her passing her cousins, Vance Young, Penny Ferguson, Mary (Horace) Ferguson, Helen (Willie) Crisp.She will be sadly missed by her children, Jackie Yancey (Deonna, Brian and Keith), Beverly and Oba Lloyd (Matthew, Mecca, Austin, Alaya, Caleb) Elzie Lee Byrd II and Carol Byrd (Brandi), Eric and Denise Byrd (Elzie Lee Byrd III (Chanique), Eric Jr., Ennis), Voncille and Kevin Brazile (Jason (Savanna) Flakes and Jennifer Flakes) Sandra Byrd-Chappell (Noelle and Louis Zamudio); nephew, Robert Wade; six great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and other loved ones, special friend, Cathy Davis.The funeral service has already taken place.
