Obituary for Mary Ann Caccarozzo

MARY ANN CACCAROZZO AUSTINTOWN - Mary Ann Caccarozzo, 85, passed away Sunday morning, Dec. 18, 2016, at ValleyCare Northside Medical Center, following a long and fulfilling life. Mary Ann was born Feb. 4, 1931, in Youngstown, a daughter of the late Arseny and Rose Patek Melnick, and was a lifelong area resident. In the 1940s, Mary Ann and her twin sister, Helen, became the first female carriers for the Youngstown Vindicator. She attended Youngstown College for two years following her 1949 graduation from The Rayen School. Mary Ann became a homemaker after marrying her husband in 1951, and held various jobs, including pharmacy technician at St. Elizabeth Hospital, and a poll worker and presiding judge with the Mahoning County Board of Elections at St. Joseph School and at The Saxon Club in Austintown. Mary Ann was a member of St. Joseph Church, and she belonged to the Cornersburg Senior Citizens group. Mrs. Caccarozzo’s husband of 45 years, Joseph Caccarozzo, whom she married June 16, 1951, passed away June 22, 1996. Mary Ann leaves her son, Joseph J. (Nikki) Caccarozzo of Marana, Ariz.; her daughter, Christine M. (Waid) Paine of Dallas, Texas; four grandchildren, Joey Lynn Caccarozzo-Jones (Jerry Donald Jones), Cara Lynn (William) Taylor, Alexander W. Paine, and Kelsey E. Paine; four great-grandchildren, Katarina Jones, Travis Jeremy Jones, Ellinara Jones, and Bryson Taylor; and many nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, three brothers, Alexander, Atty. Arseny, and Dr. John C. Melnick, and her twin sister, Helen Rose Hrynda, are deceased. Family and friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 21, at Kinnick Funeral Home, 477 N. Meridian Road, Youngstown. Funeral services will begin at 9:15 a.m., Thursday, Dec. 22, at the funeral home, and will continue at 10 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial to celebrated at St. Joseph Church, 4545 New Road, Austintown. Committal services will follow at Green Haven Memorial Gardens, where Mary Ann will be laid to rest by her husband.
