Obituary for Roberta J Kendalls

Roberta "Bobbie" Kendalls Roberta "Bobbie" Kendalls, 73, went home to be with her Lord, Jesus Christ, on Monday October 10, 2016. Roberta was born on March 24, 1943 in Akron, Ohio to Robert and Adeline Rumph. She graduated from Akron North High School and went on to earn a certificate of business from Hamel Actual Business College. A lifelong learner, Roberta also studied stenography at Cuyahoga Community College. She served as secretary to Akron Deputy Mayor, Dorothy O. Jackson and later worked for the Akron Metropolitan Housing Authority until her retirement. Roberta had a deep passion and love for sharing the "Good News" of Jesus Christ; during her lifetime, she was a faithful and devoted member of numerous prayer and worship ministries. She was a former member of Wesley Temple AME Zion Church and a current member of, Rooted In Christ Community Church. In addition to her parents, Roberta was preceded in death by her brother, Robert Rumph; and husbands, William T. Hodges and William C. Kendalls. She leaves to cherish her loving memory sons, Norell (Debra) Hodges,Andrea (Christopher) Hodges-Johnson; brother, David Rumph; sisters, Madeline Smith, Vicki (Pastor Steve) Nelson; grandchildren, Chanel Hodges, Ebony Hodges, Alana Hodges, and Xavier Hodges; great-granddaughter, Kyleana Hodges; special aunt, Mildred Mendoza; and a host of loving relatives and numerous friends. Celebration of Roberta''s life will take place on Saturday, October 15, 2016 at 1 p.m. at Rhoden Memorial Home 1101 Palmetto Ave., Akron, Ohio 44306. Family will greet friends from 12 p.m. until time of service. Interment at Mt. Peace cemetery. Pastor Rodney Bowden, eulogizing.
