Michelle Spencer CalmeseMichelle Spencer Calmese "Shelly", 64, passed away on October 4, 2016 after a brief illness. Shelly was born January 31, 1952 in Akron, Ohio. She attended Akron Public Schools and was a graduate of St. Mary High School and Mansfield Business College.Michelle was a committed member of the PTA and worked tirelessly at Erie Island where she held offices, including President, and at Buchtel High School. "Miss" Michelle was last employed by Giant Eagle where she was known to her customers as the "I''m blessed" lady when asked, how are you today?"Sister" Shelly was ardently devoted to her church and its mission. She was always willing to lend a helping hand at New Life Worship Center of Akron.Michelle was preceded in death by father, Thomas "TJ" Spencer; and grandmothers, Anna Spencer Wheeler and Margaret Lander Thomas. She leaves to cherish her memory sons, James Jr. and John (Candace) Calmese; mother, Norma Lander Spencer; sisters, Margo Spencer and Valarie Spencer (John Chandler). "BamMaw" will forever live in the hearts of adored grandchildren, Ryeleigh, Hayden, Rachel, Maxwell, Teghan, Lovelyn and Ezra Calmese; brother of the heart, Dr. Sheldon Wrice; LaTasha Calmese; and her church family and other Special thanks to Hospice of the Visiting Nurse on Ridgewood Rd. for their kind and caring services.A memorial service will be held Friday, November 4, 2016 at 1 p.m. at Sommerville Funeral Services, 1695 Diagonal Rd., Akron, OH 44320.
