Obituary for Robert L. Jones

ROBERT L. ''BOB'' JONES SR MCDONALD – Robert L. “Bob” Jones Sr., 90, went home on Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2016, to be reunited by his beloved wife, “Ducky” and son Robert Jr. Mr. Jones was born in Youngstown on April 3, 1926, a son to John J. and Mary E. (Taylor) Jones. He proudly defended our flag in the U.S. Army during World War II and following an honorable discharge, married Ms. Violet Courtney. Together they started a family and born to this union were four children, Kathy, Debra, Dickie, and Robert Jr. Bob supported his family as a truck driver, first driving for Motor Express and later for Duff Trucking. He retired after 45 years of service. He was a member of the Teamsters Local No. 377, the Woodland Park United Methodist Church, and the Brookfield Conservation Club. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting, camping, golfing, and most especially attending any McDonald School sporting events to cheer on his grandkids. He is survived by his daughters, Kathy (Ron) Jones and Debra (Jeff) Dombroski, both of McDonald; his son, Dickie Jones and his fiancée, Lori Kish of Canfield; his seven grandchildren, James Jones, Kim Jones-Schmidt, Chad Jones, Abby Peters, Samantha Jones, Courtney Klimkewicz, and Troy Dombroski; his eleven great-grandchildren; his daughter-in-law, Sandra Jones of McDonald; his sister, Gwen Vosch of Hubbard; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ducky; son Robert Jr.; sister Lois Elko; and brothers Jack and Jim Jones. In respect to his family, services are to remain private. He will be laid to rest next to his wife in Green Haven Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions can be made in his honor to Hospice of the Valley or his church.
