Obituary for Ruth Sabanick
RUTH ANN CREIGHTON SABANICK AUSTINTOWN – Ruth Ann Creighton Sabanick, 88, passed away Saturday, July 30, 2016, at Brookdale Memory Care Center. She was born on Jan. 14, 1928, in Shadyside, daughter to the late Ramon Creighton and Mabel (Heath) Green. Ruth Ann graduated from South High School and went to work in the offices at Republic Steel until marrying John Sabanick on Sept. 3, 1949. They went on to spend 55 years together before John’s passing in 2004. Ruth Ann was an active member of the Western Reserve United Methodist Church and volunteered every Tuesday for over 40 years at the church’s Helping Hand Closet.
She also will be remembered for the enjoyment she found in sewing and fishing. Left to celebrate Ruth Ann’s memory is her son, John Jay (Hope) Sabanick. In addition to her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by her son, Robert Sabanick; and her brother, James Creighton. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 2, at the Lane Family Funeral Homes, Austintown Chapel, 5797 Mahoning Ave. Services will follow at 11 a.m. Burial will take place at Green Haven Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Western Reserve UMC Helping Hands Closet, 4580 Canfield Road, Canfield, OH 44406.
