Obituary for Carol J Nelson
Carol Jean Nelson, age 80 of Mentor, died on March 10, 2016 at her home. She was born Aug. 26, 1935 to the late Leo and Fern Petty. Carol enjoyed shopping, doing puzzles, playing video games, but most of all, cherished her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She was known as "Grandma" and "Mom" to everyone. Carol worked at Fluid Controls and then at Kindercare in Mentor. Survivors are her husband of 62 years, William Nelson of Mentor; children, Caren (Frank) Hunchuck of Mentor, and Dave Nelson of Geneva-on-the-Lake; grandchildren, Shawnette Wilson, Jessica Nelson, Brad Heath, and Wesley (Nicole Crosley) Heath; and five great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her sons, Garry and William "Guy" Nelson; daughter, Debbie Heath; and granddaughter, Sammi Nelson. Visitation will be Sunday, March 13, 2016 from 3 to 6 p.m. at Johnson Funeral Home, 368 Mentor Ave., (opposite Lake Erie College) Painesville, Ohio. The funeral service will be Monday, March 14th at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Jimmy Riley presiding. Private family burial will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions are suggested to Hospice of the Western Reserve.
