Obituary for Kenneth M Erdner

KENNETH M. ERDNER CANFIELD - A memorial service will be held Saturday at 12:30 p.m. at the Zion Lutheran Church for Kenneth M. Erdner, 91, who passed away Friday evening at his home, surrounded by his family.
“Ken” was born Jan. 21, 1925, in Avalon, Pa., a son of the late David and Ella (Baacke) Erdner and moved to Ohio in 1956. Ken was a 1943 graduate of Avalon High School, but received his actual diploma in 1946, after returning from the war. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a train dispatcher for Pennsylvania Railroad/Conrail for 40 years, retiring in 1986.

Ken was an active member of the Zion Lutheran Church and was also a member of the Saxon Club for 50 years. He was an avid golfer and bridge player and also enjoyed vacationing in Florida.
His wife, the former Virginia Herndon, whom he married Oct. 3, 1946, passed away in 2012.
Ken leaves his three daughters, Nancy (Richard) Coleman of Lecanto, Fla., Bonny (Michael) Tarantino, whom he made his home with in Canfield, and Ginger (Ronald) Deuley of Lancaster; a son, Kenny D. (Lisa) Erdner of New London, N.C.; nine grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. Ken was also preceded in death by five brothers, Charles, Merle, Quinton, Warren, and Irwin Erdner.

Family and friends may call Saturday from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the church. Material tributes may take the form of donations to the Zion Lutheran Church.
