Barbara A. Hodoh HawkinsBarbara A. Hodoh Hawkins, a loving mother, went home to be with the Lord on March 8, 2016 after a long illness.Barbara was a resident of Akron most of her life and graduated from Kent State University with a M.A. in Early Childhood Education. She was a retired teacher with Akron Public Schools and a member of Arlington Church of God.Barbara was preceded in death by spouses, Louis Hodoh, Sr. and Joseph Hawkins, Jr.; father, Carter Owens; stepfather, J.K. Willis; mother, Ruth Willis; sister, Jackie Willis; brother, Richard Willis; and son, Michael Hodoh. She is survived by her brother, Ronald Willis of Akron; brother-in-law, Nathaniel (Bernice) Hodoh of Akron; son, Louis (Merrellene) Hodoh of Hercules, Calif.; daughters, Sharon (Ronald) McAdams of Atlanta, Ga., Hope Hodoh of Hampton, Ga., and Telichia (Richard) Beckley of Tallmadge; special daughters, Crystal (Jerald) Hawkins-Harper and Dr. Michelle Hawkins of Akron; eight grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and friend Cleo Myricks Graham.Friends may call on Friday, March 18th from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Arlington Church of God, 539 S. Arlington St., Akron; Homegoing celebration will begin at 12 p.m. Interment at Mount Peace Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to 563 Hilltop Terrace, Tallmadge, OH 44278.
