Obituary for Joseph Zaffuto

Joseph "Joe" C. Zaffuto, age 94, passed away Saturday, January 2, 2016. Joe was a WWII Army Veteran. He graduated in 1950 from Carnegie Institute of Technology with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering and was employed by Middough & Associates for 15 years, retiring in 2001. He was a member of the American Society of Sanitary Engineers (ASSE), American Society of Plumbing Engineers (ASPE) and the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME). He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus. Survivors are his children, Janet H. (Craig) White, Diane M. Zaffuto (William E. Franey), Karen M. (John R.) Ross and Allen J. (Lori Ann) Zaffuto; grandchildren, Kellie J. (Joshua) Daniel, Christopher W. (Michal) Jackson and Alyssa M. Zaffuto; great-grandchildren, Skylar Z. Jackson, Mason W. Jackson and Madeline M. Daniel; sisters, Sr. Rosemary Zaffuto and Jackie Gyure; and many nieces and nephews. Joe was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Margaret M. (nee Iezzi); sisters, Mary Sgriccia, Nancy Dragin, Jane Caramela; and brother, Carlo Zaffuto. Fr. John T. Lane, SSS will celebrate the Funeral Mass on Saturday, January 9, 2016 at 12:30 p.m. at St. Paschal Baylon Church in Highland Heights. Burial will be in Western Reserve Memorial Gardens in Chesterland. Friends may call Friday from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Schulte & Mahon-Murphy Funeral Home, Lyndhurst.
