Obituary for Thomas Russell
Obituary.
Mr. Thomas Russell, whose death was noticed last week, was a patriotic citizen whose love for the country and flag was paramount to everything else. He was a brave soldier during the war of the rebellion, serving three years in Company ''"A," 10th Indiana Cavalry and was mustered out only when peace had been declared in 1865.
He was mustered into Gardner Post, G. A. R. No. 447 at Gardner, Kansas, December 27, 1891, and has been a valuable member and worker ever since. In fact, he was a charter member of that Post.
Gardner Post, at its last meeting, passed the following resolutions:
Resolved- That in the death of Comrade Thos. Russell this Post has lost a respected, valued member and zealous worker, his wife a devoted husband and his children an affectionate father.
Resolved –That when on the morning of March 7, 1894, life''s vital spark went out, one of the noblest comrades passed away, and one who in our memory will ever live. J
Resolved - That our thanks are due to Franklin Post No. 68, of Olathe for assistance in burying our departed comrade with G. A. R. honors in Olathe cemetery.
