Obituary for Andrew Jackson Baucom

ANDREW JACKSON BAUCOM

 Andrew Jackson Baucom died at his home, a half mile east of the Frisco depot, Friday morning, April 5th, at 9:30 o'clock, aged 85 years, 11 months and 9 days. Andrew Jackson Baucom was born in Knox County, Tennessee, April 27, 1826, and lived there until 1842, when he moved to Jackson county .Missouri, where he resided until the fall of 1877, when he removed to Johnson county, Kansas, and located on a farm two miles south of DeSoto, After a five years' residence in the vicinity of DeSoto. he removed to Olathe, where he has since resided.

 Mr. Baucom served in the Mexican war, enlisting in 1848 and serving six months. He enlisted in the Civil War in 1861 and served three years, being a members of the Missouri State Militia, of Independence, Mo.

At the age of 82 years Mr. Baucom united with the Methodist church and he has always been a great worker in the church and Sunday School. Funeral services were held at the home Saturday afternoon, April 6th, at 3 o'clock, conducted by Rev. H. 0. Hotler and burial was in Olathe cemetery.

He leaves, besides his wife, Mrs. Melvine Baucom, seven sons and two daughters, as follows: John W., George M. S., Reece R., and Andrew P. Baucom, of Kansas City, Mo., R. L. Baucom, of Portland Oregon, James A. Huston, of Olathe, and Sadie E. Fowler, of Rosedale.
