Obituary for Esther R Boyd
Esther Ruth Boyd (nee Hoehn), age 96, of Newbury Twp., died December 5, 2015, at UHHS Geauga Regional Hospital, Claridon Twp. Born in Cleveland on April 18, 1919, to Arthur E. and Sarah A. (nee Everett) Hoehn, she had been a lifelong area resident.
Mrs. Boyd was a baker at the former Huff Bakery in Cleveland for 6 years. She was a member of Newbury Community Church, having taught Sunday school and Bible Study, she volunteered for the American Cancer Society, and worked the polling booths in Newbury Twp. She was an avid reader and enjoyed her cats and dogs.
Survivors include her children, John A. Boyd of Russellville, Ky., Paul T. (Lynn) Boyd of Chester Twp., Calvin (Alicia) Boyd of Concord, Calif., Gary Boyd and Dennis (Kelly) Boyd, both of Newbury Twp. and Judy (Ivan) Horner of Linesville, Pa.; and nephews, Mark (Laura) Hoehn and Keith Alvarez. She had 16 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her parents; her husband, John P. Boyd on July 12, 2006, whom she married June 24, 1938; her daughter, Barbara Jo Glaubach; and her brother, Arthur.
Private family services were held.
Arrangements are being handled by the Burr Funeral Home, Chardon.
