Mother Betty Otelia ButtsMother Betty Otelia Butts transitioned peacefully to her heavenly home, Friday, October 30, 2015 at her residence, surrounded by her loving family. She was born September 22, 1927 to the late James Curtis Matthews and Nora Matthews in Malvern, Ohio and grew up in Waynesburg, Ohio. She married Elder Lemon Butts, Jr. and to this union five children were born. Elder Butts and Mother Betty worked faithfully together for many years as founder and senior pastor and church mother of Holy Trinity COGIC.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband and daughter, Loretta Jean Butts; sister, Evelyn DeGraffinreed. She leaves to celebrate her life and legacy, children, Brenda Wilson, Elder Curtis E. (Michelle) Butts, Pastor Dennis (Jewrusha) Butts, Sr. and Otelia (Joe) Simmons III, Shirlee Aaron, sister, Velma Matthews.Service will be held on Sunday, November 1, 2015 at 6 p.m. at The House of the Lord, 1650 Diagonal Road, Akron, Ohio 44320, Elder Curtis E. Butts Officiating and Pastor Dennis K. Butts, Sr., eulogizing. Friends may visit at the church from 4 p.m. until time of service. Interment Monday, November 2, 2015 at 10 a.m. at Mt. Peace Cemetery.
