Marilyn Markle Lichliter

Marilyn Markle Lichliter, 93, formerly of Battle Creek, Mich., passed away Sunday, August 30, 2015.

Born in Akron, Ohio she was the daughter of the late Carl and Florence (Looker) Markle. She was the wife of the late John L. Yeager, Jr. and the Late Rev. James M. Lichliter.

Marilyn graduated from Colby Jr. College in New London, N.H. After graduation, she returned to Akron and was a Red Cross x­ray technician and Nurse''s Aide in hospitals and blood banks during World War II. She volunteered for both Children''s and City Hospital and was a member of both the Women''s Board at Children''s and the Akron Junior League.

During her 54 years in Battle Creek, Marilyn volunteered for the Michigan Heart Association and was a sustaining member of the Battle Creek Jr. League, a member of the Battle Creek Country Club and communicant of the First Congregational Church.

She was a member of P.E.O. and a former member of the Visiting Nurse Board and Town Hall Board. Marilyn''s loves were her family, church and golf. As a member of the Colby Jr. College chorus she performed with the Boston Pops Orchestra.

As an avid golfer, she competed in several tournaments in Battle Creek and treasured the lasting friendships that were established while playing on the links.

She is survived by her children, Christie (Lichliter) Alton and her husband Bruce of Lancaster, Pa., Bruce Lichliter and his wife Anne of Glen Arbor, Mich., Marilyn Mayhall of Bristol, R.I., and John Yeager and his wife Suesan of Hollis, N.H.; grandchildren Jamie, John, Elizabeth, Jeffrey and Gregory; and great­grandchildren, Matthew, Amy, Sadie and Brynn.
