Obituary for Matilda J Childs

BOARDMAN - Private services were held Wednesday at Green Haven Memorial Gardens for Matilda Jane Childs, 87, of the Vista of Boardman, formerly of Salem, who died Sunday evening at Vista.

Matilda was born March 3, 1928, in Youngstown, a daughter of the late William Harvey and Annabelle Furden Byers, and was a lifelong area resident. She had been a medical assistant for Drs. Deramo and Zoss and previously had worked for Dr. Spikell.

Her husband, Joseph W. Childs, whom she married in 1961, died in 1998.

She leaves her sister, Mary Ann Gednetz of Boardman and two nephews.

Besides her parents and her husband, Matilda was preceded in death by two nephews.

Arrangements are by the Lane Family Funeral Homes, Austintown Chapel.
