Obituary for Steve J Fizet

STEPHEN ''STEVE'' J. FIZET SR
 

 

MCDONALD – Stephen J. Fizet Sr., died on Wednesday, Sept. 16, 2015, at 3:20 p.m. at Humility House in Austintown.

He was born in McKinley Heights on June 18, 1923, the son of the late Daniel and Annie Dickerhoff Fizet.

Steve was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in McDonald. He was a self-employed carpenter, and he also worked at Niles Expanded Metals and retired after 20 years of service.

His hobbies included making grandfather and grandmother clocks, and gardening.

Survivors include his children, Stephen J. (C. Sue) Fizet Jr. of Girard, Thomas E. (Marijo) Fizet of Diamond, and Kevin D. (Helenjo) Fizet of McDonald; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by five siblings, Janet Jewel of Sebring, Fla., Thomas Fizet of Seattle, Charles Fizet of Fowler, Helen Glass of Girard, and Elizabeth Fizet of Texas.

Other than his parents, Stephen was preceded in death by his wife, the former Mary Remish; and his siblings, Clara Sheronovich, John, Nick, Edward, Carl, and George Fizet.

Steve’s family would like to express thanks to the staff at Humility House for the compassionate care given their father during his stay there.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Mary Catholic Church in Mineral Ridge at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 26, 2015, where Father Richard Murphy and Father James Walker will con-celebrate the Mass.

Family and friends may visit at the Lane Family Funeral Homes, Mineral Ridge Chapel on Friday, Sept. 25, 2015, from 5 to 8 p.m. There will be a 4:45 p.m. prayer service on Friday.

Morning prayers will take place at 9:15 a.m. before proceeding to the church on Saturday morning.

Steve will be laid to rest next to his wife at Green Haven Memorial Gardens in Canfield.
