Obituary for Thomas J Koniowsky

MCDONALD - Thomas J. Koniowsky Sr., 64, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 23, 2015, at St. Elizabeth Boardman Health Center.

He was born Feb. 10, 1951, in Youngstown, the son of George and Helen Hlywa Koniowsky.

“Tom” retired in 2005, from Rogers Lumber Co. in Niles after 36 years as a shop manager. He served in the U.S. National Guard. Tom enjoyed woodworking, shopping, camping and playing the slot machines, but his grandchildren were always his greatest joy. He was an avid NASCAR fan and Cleveland Browns fan to the end, and loved his dog, Cindy.

He is survived by his wife, the former Debby Bundy, whom he married March 20, 1971; his mother, Helen (Marvin) Berube of Florida; daughter Melissa (Chuck) Hall of McDonald; son TJ (Lisa) Koniowsky Jr. of Mineral Ridge; sister Diana (Tom Olsen) Len of Florida; brother Timothy (Debbie) Koniowsky of Austintown; and grandchildren Christopher, Madison, Thomas III, Colin and Siera.

Besides his father, he was preceded in death by his grandson, Cole.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Sept. 26, at 10 a.m., at the Blackstone Funeral Home in Girard. The family will receive relatives and friends on Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Tom will be laid to rest at Green Haven Memorial Cemetery.
