Lillie Merdell Jackson Laston
Lillie Merdell Jackson Laston was born February 10, 1932 to the late Toney and Geneva Clemons Jackson. She was one of seven children. After eighty-three years Merdell took her final journey from life on August 27, 2015.
Merdell was born and raised in Akron, graduated from East High School, worked many years at St. Thomas Hospital, Brecksville Veterans Hospital and Kandy Kane Daycare. Merdell was a faithful member of The House of the Lord. The world lost a great Christian force. She was a dedicated member of the Mass Choir.
Merdell was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Alonzo Laston; two sisters, and three brothers. She leaves behind, son, Darin (Patricia Laston); grandchildren, Darin Alexander, Alexis, Adam and Alonzo; also left behind is her great-grandson, Jason; one sister, Geraldine Veal; sister-in-law, Bernice Richardson; many relatives and friends. Merdell lovingly offered time and talent to her church, spent all of her life loving, giving, and praying for family and friends without pause leaving behind a host of loved ones.
Service will be held on Thursday, September 3, 2015 at 12 noon at The House of the Lord, 1605 Diagonal Rd., Akron. Procession will form and condolences may be sent to 1421 Barcelona Drive, Akron 44313.
