Pastor Zettie Benson, 66, passed on to glory on July 7, 2015 after a long illness.
She was born to the late Jake and Alberta Shaw on November 4, 1948. Pastor Benson was the pastor and co-founder of new Birth Worship Center Ministry.
She was preceded in death by parents, Jake and Alberta Shaw; brothers, Jake Shaw, Jr. and Leonard "Brother" Shaw; sister, Katie May Higgins; and mother-in-law, Julia Ealy.
She is survived by loving husband, Willie Benson; sons, Lorenzo "Speedy" (Sherry) Dotson, William (Rhonda) Smothers; step-son William Posey; stepdaughter, Tracy Watkins; grandsons, Lorenzo "Joey" (Rosanne) Dotson and Daynieal Dotson; great-grandchildren, Lorenzo "JoJo" and Zatoria Dotson; sisters, Brenda (Ray) Dawson, Carmen "Dena" Shaw, Lily "Doll" Campbell; brothers, Ernie and Joe Shaw; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Service will be held Tuesday, July 14, 2015 at 1 p.m. at Stewart & Calhoun Funeral Home, 529 W. Thornton St., Akron, OH 44307, Minister Clarence Benson eulogizing and Pastor Donzella Rodgers officiating. Interment Mt. Peace Cemetery. Friends may visit at the funeral home from 12 Noon until time of service. Procession will form and condolences may be sent to 808 Clearview Ave., Akron, OH 44314.
