Obituary for Kenneth Dicks

KENNETH R. DICKS

BOARDMAN - There will be a memorial service at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 27, at the Christ Church Presbyterian, 1933 Canfield Road, Youngstown, for Kenneth R. Dicks, 86, who died Friday, May 15, at Hampton Woods Nursing Center, Poland.

Kenneth was born Aug. 23, 1928, in Youngstown, a son of the late Michael and Sophie Namick Dicks, and was a lifelong area resident.

Kenneth attended South High School and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He worked as an upholsterer for the former General Fireproofing Company for more than 30 years, retiring in 1990. He was a member of the Christ Church Presbyterian, the Fraternal Order of Eagles, and VFW Post No. 93. Kenneth was a former member of the Youngstown Saxon Club. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed fishing and hunting.

He leaves his wife, the former V. Beverly Gallagher, whom he married May 26, 1956; his son, Kenneth Dicks of Petersburg; and his granddaughter, Amanda Rose Dicks.

Besides his parents, Kenneth was preceded in death by a brother, Richard Dicks.

Friends may call for one hour prior to the memorial service on Wednesday at the church.
