Obituary for Paul J Medzie

PAUL J. MEDZIE
BERLIN CENTER - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, at Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church in North Jackson, for Paul J. Medzie, 87.Paul was born Feb. 16, 1928, in Morrisdale, Pa., the son of Michael and Anna (Plevyak) Medzie.

Paul was a member of the church, Knights of Columbus in Windham Council No. 4433, where he was a Past Grand Knight and Past District Deputy, and a World War II U.S. Air Force veteran. Paul was the master groundskeeper for Fr. Kane’s Camp in Lake Milton. He retired in January of 1993 as a millwright for LTV Steel.

He will be sadly missed by his wife of 64 years, the former Evelyn Shirey (Smith), whom he married July 1, 1950; children Robert of Hilton Head, S.C., Victoria (Roger) Bowman of McDonald, Thomas (Margaret) of Ravenna, and Michele (Wayne) Sarna of Ellsworth; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Paul also leaves his sisters, Ann Wassel of Port Richie, Fla., Evelyn Colomb of Syracuse, N.Y., Elizabeth Higgins of Virginia Beach, Va., Frances Clark of Clearfield, Pa., Margaret Brady of Cortland, Veronica Pleskenko of Acto, N.J.; brother Edward Medzie of Burbank; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister Martha St. Lawrent; and brothers Michael and Carl Medzie.

Family and friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m., Sunday, at the Lane Family Funeral Homes, Austintown Chapel. Prayers will be held at 9:30 a.m., Monday morning, at the funeral home, before processing to the church for services. The Medzie family request that memorial contributions be made to Hospice House in Paul’s name.
