VIOLET R. SHEETZ YOUNGSTOWN – Heaven gained a beautiful angel when Violet Sheetz, 96, passed away peacefully in her sleep, during the morning hours of Sunday, April 19, 2015, at Briarfield Manor in Austintown.

She was born Violet Anoia on Nov. 14, 1918, in Shamokin, Pa., to Charles and Mary Anoia.

She married Paul Sheetz on Nov. 29, 1941, in Shamokin, and shortly thereafter, moved to Youngstown.

She worked as a seamstress at Moyers Pant Factory in Youngstown before retiring in the mid-1960s.

She was an excellent seamstress and an even better cook. She often sewed clothes for her grandchildren, including doll clothes for her granddaughter’s dolls. She enjoyed preparing holiday meals for her family and making Christmas cookies for family and friends. She even canned her own tomato sauce.

She enjoyed playing cards at St. Christine Church and in later years, enjoyed playing bingo at Briarfield Manor.

She will forever be missed by her daughter, Pauline (Gary) Heid of Boardman; her son, Francis (Susan) Sheetz of Kelseyville, Calif.; her granddaughter, Dana Heid of Canfield; her grandson, John Paul Heid of Canfield; her grandson, Gary Sheetz (Luisa) of Santa Clara, Calif.; and two great-grandchildren, Garrett and Lorelei Sheetz of Santa Clara.

Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by all of her siblings, Rosie, Philomena, Stella, Arthur, Aldo, Orlando, and Loretta.

Her family would like to thank the staff at Briarfield Manor for taking excellent care of her the past four years, especially nurse, Becky Pennell, who always made her laugh.

Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, April 24, and from 8 to 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 25, at the Vaschak-Kirila Funeral Home. A Mass to celebrate her life will be held at St. Christine Church at 9 a.m., followed by a burial at Green Haven Cemetery.
