Obituary for Winford D Lucas

   A Memorial Service for Winford "Bill" Lucas, age 68, of Eastlake, will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, May 2, at the Davis-Babcock Funeral Home, 4154 Clark Ave., Willoughby. Pastor Robert Schuler of Trinity Lutheran Church in Willoughby will officiate at the service. Mr. Lucas passed away Saturday, April 25, 2015, surrounded by his family at University Hospitals Case Medical Center in Cleveland. He was born December 29, 1947, in Chapmanville, W.Va. He had lived in Eastlake for the past 36 years. Bill retired from Republic (LTV) Steel in 2001 after 31years of service. He was a U.S. Army veteran having served in Viet Nam. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and reading. Bill especially enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Leila Darby Lucas; and brothers, Sidney and Lester Lucas. Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Shelia Lucas; son, William (Kim) Lucas of Mentor; grandson, William, Jr.; granddaughters, Karlene and Kathleen; brother, James Lucas of Chapmanville, W.Va; sisters, Amelia (Joe) Drawl of Mentor, Margaret (Gordon) Peck of Honaker, Va. and Nellie Collins of Cleveland; numerous nieces and nephews including one special and close nephew, James Shumar of Cumberland, Ohio; and last but not least, his faithful dog, Coco. The family will receive friends 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Davis-Babcock Funeral Home, 4154 Clark Ave., Willoughby. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to the Disabled American Veterans.
