Annie Ree Watkins
Annie Ree Watkins, 76 years old, went home to be with the Lord January 27, 2015.
She was born on June 6, 1938 in Marshallville, Ga. She was the tenth of eleven children born to Lester and Birder Blue.
Annie moved to Akron, Ohio to pursue a career. She met and married Ceceil C. Watkins on December 25, 1959. They were blessed with two beautiful daughters.
Annie retired with over thirty years of service with V.A. Hospital. Annie loved her family, immediate and extended.
Annie was preceded in death by her parents, Lester and Birder Blue; husband, Cecil C. Watkins; daughter, Sandy Dodds; brothers, L.V. and Harvey Blue; and sister, Corraine Evans.
Annie leaves behind, her loving daughter and caregiver, Tammy Harper; grandkids, Tanaya Watkins and Richard Watkins, both of Akron, Ohio, Corporale (Tafadzwa) Mariga, and Cory Dodds II of Houston, Texas; great-grandkids, Aelyn, Alesha, Devin, and Mariya; sons-in-law, Cory Dodds Sr. of Houston, Texas, and Richard Harper (Tiffany) of Akron, Ohio; sisters, Lula Mae Brown of Fort Valley, Georgia, Essie B. Walker of Atlanta, Georgia, Birder Mae (Columbus) Wright of Plant City, Florida, and Polly (Doc) Martin of Elhurst, New York; brothers, Henry Lee Blue of Rochester, New York, John Edward (Artisha) Blue of Maitland, Florida, and Fedow Blue of Eatonvill, Florida; sisters-in-law, Mary Watkins and Imogene Watkins.
Memorial service will be held Saturday, 12 noon at St. Paul A.M.E. Church, 1250 S. Hawkins Ave., Akron, Ohio 44320. Friends and family may visit with the family from 11 a.m. to 12 noon, Rev. Bruce Butcher officiating. Interment will be held at Mt. Peace Cemetery. Procession will form and condolences can be sent to 1444 Greenwood Ave., Akron, Ohio 44320.
