Obituary for Jean Judy

YOUNGSTOWN – Funeral services will be held Friday, Feb. 6, 2015, at 11 a.m. at the Canfield Presbyterian Church, 140 W. Main St., Canfield, for Jean Judy, 85, who died Saturday, Jan. 31, 2015, at Mease Countryside Hospital, Safety Harbor, Fla., with her family by her side.

Jean was born March 1, 1929, in Youngstown, the daughter of the late Paul J. and Myrtle M. (Heiser) Wrikeman.

She graduated from South High School in 1947, and previously lived in Canfield and Austintown before moving to Park Vista Retirement Community.

She worked for Pelly’s Appliance in Youngstown for 19 years. She was a bank teller at Farmers Savings & Loan, and then for First Federal Savings & Loan, where she was the head teller for eight years before retiring in 1986. After retirement, Jean worked as a receptionist at the Thompson Funeral Home.

Jean was a member of the Canfield Presbyterian Church. She was a member of the former John Knox Presbyterian Church for 55 years, where she served as a deacon, elder, sang in the Chancel choir and played in the bell choir.

Jean enjoyed crocheting and baking and many of her items she entered in the Canfield Fair over the years.

Jean is survived by two daughters, Brenda L. (Bailey) and son-in-law Peter Fraser of Austintown and Kathy J. (Bailey) Will of Hilliard; two stepdaughters, Karen S. Pavlov of Canfield and Diane W. Judy of Boardman; a sister, Fern Thompson of Twinsburg; eight grandchildren, Jason (Jackie) Fraser, Amanda (John) Fraser-Bizorik, Emily (Demitry) Lewis, Ryan (Sarah) Will, Tyler (Miranda) Will, Evan (Jenny) Will, Allison (Todd) Pavlov-Pungratz and Natalie Pavlov; and great-grandchildren Sophia Fraser, Maerinn Fraser, Jacob Lewis, Dylan Lewis, Landen Will, Eli Will, Aubrey Will, and R.J. Will Jr.

Besides her parents, Jean was preceded in death by her husband of 30 years, Richard M. Judy, whom she married on March 18, 1978, and who died April 5, 2008; a stepson, Rev. Richard M. Judy Jr.; two brothers, Clarence Wrikeman and Raymond Wrikeman; and a sister, Evelyn Taylor.

Family and friends may call on Thursday, Feb. 5, 2015, from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Thompson-Filicky Funeral Home, 4221 Market St. in Boardman, and one hour prior the service on Friday at the Canfield Presbyterian Church.
