Obituary for Janet G Mayberry

AUSTINTOWN - Janet Golden Mayberry, 80, died at 11:20 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 31, 2015, at AustinWoods Nursing Center.

She was born on April 19, 1934, in Youngstown, the daughter of the late John George and Mary Belinia Diehl Pfund.

Janet was a graduate of Warren G. Harding High School. Janet was a secretary for several years, in the early 1970s, for the Youngstown Baptist Church, where she was a former member. She was very active there, teaching Sunday school and playing the organ there and also playing organ at the Bible Baptist Church in Campbell, her most recent membership. At Youngstown Baptist, her duties included printing the bulletin and fixing the machinery, typing the sermons and keeping membership files.

Janet was very involved with her family. She liked playing board games and traveling and she was a very avid letter writer to her friends and relatives. Mrs. Mayberry was also a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary.

Survivors include her children, Linda (Edward) Swiger of Atwater and Rev. Ronald (Kathy) Mayberry of Louisville, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.

Other than her parents, Janet was preceded on July 24, 2004, by her husband, John W. Mayberry, with whom she was united in marriage on Aug. 27, 1955; and one brother, Richard Pfund.

Funeral services will be held at the Lane Family Funeral Homes, Austintown Chapel, at 11 a.m., Friday, Feb. 6, 2015, where her son, the Rev. Ronald Mayberry, will celebrate his mother’s life.

Family and friends may visit at the funeral home from 4 to 7 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 5, 2015, and also one hour prior to the service on Friday.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Rescue Mission of Mahoning Valley.
