Obituary for JUNE JEANETTE COLLINS

June Jeanette (Cretsinger) Collins
Des Moines

June Jeanette (Cretsinger) Collins, 91, of Des Moines, Iowa, met her Savior and went to her eternal home Sunday, February 1, 2015.

Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 6, 2015 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines with visitation for one hour prior. Burial will follow at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.

June was born June 6, 1923 to Ora and Jenny “Pearl” (Textor) Cretsinger in rural Coon Rapids, then later moved to Bayard. She fell in love with Calvin McDonald “Don” Collins from Guthrie Center and they were united in marriage on October 3, 1943. They made their home in Des Moines, Iowa. From this union, they had two daughters.

June was a very loving and caring wife, mom, grandma, sister, and friend. She was the “Best Grammy” ever! She always made you feel “special” and let you know how much you were loved. She was always there for you when you needed her. She loved to watch and feed the birds and squirrels and loved to “putter around” in her kitchen. She loved to be with family and always read her Bible and followed her Lord. As strong as she was, she was getting weak and was ready for her eternal home in Heaven. She is now at peace with her Savior and reunited with her husband after 20 years. She was very special to all of us and will be missed by many. We will miss her smile, her voice, her laugh, her comforting words and ways, and her hugs. We are thankful for her and all of the special memories that we have.

June is survived by her two daughters, Donna Rae Gering of Urbandale and Marilyn McDaniel Wilson of Des Moines; one brother, Ora “Junior” Cretsinger of Oregon; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Don; four brothers, Vivian, Kenneth, Gayle, and Darrell; one sister, Clarice Lee; and three sons-in-law, Denny McDaniel, Fred Gering, and Monte Wilson.
