Obituary for Eleanor P Balog
Funeral Mass for Eleanor P. (nee Scholz) Balog, 89, of Kirtland, was held at Immaculate Conception Church, 37940 Euclid Ave., Willoughby. Mrs. Balog died Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2014, at Golden Living Center in Kirtland. Born Sept. 5, 1925, in Cleveland, she had lived in Cleveland before moving to Lake County 45 years ago, living in Kirtland. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Church for 45 years, where she was a member of the Fifty Plus Club, past President of the Court of Mary, President of the National Council of Catholic Women, and Lake/Geauga Deaner (NCCW). She was also a longtime member of the Kirtland Grange, Kirtland Senior Center, Kirtland Lamplighters Club and Hi 5''s of Divine Word Catholic Church. She is survived by her loving children, Joseph F. (Caroline) of Madison, Katherine E. of Kirtland, John C. of Painesville and James P. (Louise) of Trumbull Township; cherished grandchildren, Elizabeth Scipione and Chelsea Balog; and great-grandchildren, Giselle, Sabrina, Michael and Neveah. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 62 years, Joseph J. Balog; parents; and two brothers. A memorial service will be held at a later date. The family suggests contributions be made in her name to Hospice of the Western Reserve, 17876 St. Clair Ave., Cleveland, OH 44110.
