Obituary for Ruth Notzen

RUTH M. NOTZEN

BOARDMAN - Ruth M. Notzen went to be with the Lord on Jan. 5, 2015.

Ruth was born on Sept. 24, 1919, in Chicago, where she lived until 1965, when she moved to Youngstown.

Ruth worked as a beautician since she was 17 years old, having her own shop for many years. She also was a beautician and the manager of the JC Penney Styling Salon in the Southern Park Mall, where she retired from. She especially loved and enjoyed her family. She also enjoyed traveling, dancing and playing cards and bingo. She was a dedicated parishioner at St. Charles Catholic Church in Boardman.

Her husband, Arthur J. Notzen, whom she married on July 22, 1945, passed away on May 29, 1984.

She was also preceded in death by her sister, Dorothy Kavanaugh and her brother, Ernest Wayman.

She will always be remembered by her daughter, Marilyn Smoak (Charles) of DeLand, Fla., and her son, Atty. Randall A. Notzen (Lisa) of Cranberry Township, Pa.

She leaves behind six grandchildren, Tracy Kruszeski, Casey Wilson and Jamey Wyatt of DeLand, and Ryan Notzen, Jeremy Notzen and Lyn Notzen of Cranberry Township; and six great-grandchildren, Mariah and Bailey Newcomb, Tucker and Mollie Wilson, and Jackson and Bode Wyatt.

Many friends will miss her, especially her long-time companion, Lou, and dear friends, David and Diane. Her warmth and depth of caring helped her to make steadfast friends easily, as she did in her last months at Shepherd of the Valley.

Friends are welcome to attend the calling hours at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Boardman-Canfield Chapel, at 3701 Starr’s Centre in Canfield, Thursday, Jan. 8, from 10 to 11 a.m., with the service directly following.

Burial will take place at Green Haven Memorial Gardens in Canfield.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Charles Perpetual Gift Program
