Obituary for Carol Hixenbaugh

CAROL (HOST) HIXENBAUGH
 

 

AUSTINTOWN - Carol (Host) Hixenbaugh, 85, passed away on Saturday, Dec. 6, 2014.

She was born Sept. 9, 1929, in East Richland, to the late Edwin and Mildred (Lloyd) Host. 

Carol was a St. Clairsville High School graduate, and she went on to work for General Motors for 25 years.

On Oct. 23, 1950, she married Harry W. Hixenbaugh, and they celebrated nearly 59 years happily together before Harry passed on Aug. 2, 2009. 

Carol will be remembered for the many things she enjoyed. She was very creative and liked building doll houses and working in the garden. Carol had a passion for reading books and solving crossword puzzles. She also liked taking time to travel, but her true passion in life was her family. Carol will be missed as a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister. 

Left to mourn her passing are her children, Sandie (David) Cramer, Michael Hixenbaugh, Tom (Jane) Hixenbaugh, Terry Hixenbaugh, Randy (Beth) Hixenbaugh,  and Kit (Ann) Hixenbaugh; her 10 grandchildren; her 12 great-grandchildren; and her siblings, Mel (Gay) Host, Madge Kuthy, Lynda (Bob) Corbin, Shirley (Lloyd) Johnson.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harry W. Hixenbaugh; and her brothers, Bill and Donald Host. 

The family will receive friends on Friday, Dec. 12, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Lane Family Funeral Homes, Austintown Chapel, where a funeral service will take place on Saturday, Dec. 13, at 11 a.m.

Interment will follow at Green Haven Memorial Gardens. 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made in Carol’s honor to the Donald Host Scholarship Fund, 1565 Gordon Road, NW, Warren, OH 44485.
