Obituary for WILLIAM JUNIOR MORRISSEY

William J. Morrissey, 86, passed away on, December 5th, 2014. A visitation with family will be held at 1:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m., Friday, December 12th, 2014 at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 N.W. 60th Ave. Interment and graveside ceremonies will immediately follow at Highland Memory Gardens.

Bill was born December 1, 1928 in Chariton, Iowa. He graduated from East High School and attended Grandview College, in Des Moines. He served in the National Guard.

On September 7, 1952, Bill was united in marriage to Donna Lou Haselhuhn. The couple made their home in Des Moines and were blessed with two children. He had a deep love of sports and played basketball and baseball as a young man. He later took up golf which remained a lifelong passion. He was a diehard Chicago Cubs and Iowa Hawkeye fan. Bill had an entrepreneurial spirit and owned or partnered in several businesses including; The Plaza Lanes Bowling Alley, San Francisco Lounge, Hi Ho Grill, A & W Root Beer Stand and a real estate company. He also was a salesman for much of his life. After retirement and beyond boredom he went to work at Walmart in the electronics department for 20 years.

Bill will be deeply missed by his children, Kathy (Peter Mohror), Kevin, granddaughter Kori, brother Tom (Marjorie) and many nieces, nephews and friends. Bill is preceded in death by his parents, Eva and William, wife Donna Lou, and sister Jean Pollard.
