Chrysa Mary Jameson

Chrysa Mary Jameson, 97, passed away on Saturday, November 15, 2014 in Akron.

Born in Rochester, New York, to Urania and Mike Jameson, she was an Akron resident most of her life. A graduate of the University of Akron with a Bachelor of Arts in Education, she was pledged in Mu Phi Omega, music honorary, and belonged to the Pro Musica Society.

Miss Jameson was an instructor of English and music in the Akron Public Schools for 34 years. Her last assignment for 23 years was at Kenmore High School where she was head of the English Department until her retirement as teacher emeritus.

Chrysa was organist at the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church for over forty years and she also taught piano in the Akron area.

During her professional career, she was a member of the Akron Education Association, Ohio and National Education Associations, Northeastern Ohio Teachers Association, National Council Teachers of English and Greater Akron Teachers of English.

A charter member of the Daughters of Penelope, auxiliary of the Order of Ahepa, she was also pianist for the chapter. Other memberships include: a former member of GOYA and the Akron YWCA.

Surviving are her brother, Dr. Geo M. Jameson; nephew, Jamie (Trulee) Jameson of Sarasota, Fla.; and two great-nieces.

Many thanks to her guardian angel, Chriss Hadgis, for taking such good care of Chrysa for the past 20 years.

Also, thanks to the staff at the Village of St. Edwards; you all helped to fill Chrysa''s last few years with happiness, love and joy.

A funeral service will be held TOMORROW at 11 a.m. at the Annuciation Greek Orthodox Church, 129 S Union St. in Akron, where the family will receive friends for one hour prior, beginning at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at Mt.
